Magical Marrakech

Marrakech will always have a very special spot in my heart. My husband and I have been going since we met ( I just realised the other day we have been together 16 years!) times really does fly! we have stayed in various hotels and riaads, both inside and outside of the Medina and I have spent MANY hours browsing the souks. I was so obsessed with their furniture, rugs and interiors that I bought lots of amazing antiques and decorated our old villa in that Maroc style.

STAY | My favourite will always be the Amanjena in the Palmeraie – its about 20 mins outside the Medina, it blew me away the first time I saw it, its just exquisite, like an ancient palace with all the luxuries and great service! Its a great place to stay with kids if your kids like to spend time with you as they don’t have a “kids club” as such, but they are very friendly and great with kids.

The Mandarin Orietal is also a gorgeous property, it is nestled in 20 hectares of gardens and olive groves, I have never seen roses so beautiful, and the fragrant smell everywhere you walk is DIVINE. My husband loves it as they have a restaurant called Ling Ling that is the sister restaurant of Haakasan in London (do prebook especially on weekends as it is a destination restaurant and gets book up). We have stayed several times, and I especially loved it when Winter was a small baby and they were great with things like sterilisers and bath products for babies and heating baby food etc. We stayed in a Mandarin pool villa both times, they are ENORMOUS and perfect for a family. The spa is amazing and its only 10 minutes from the Medina and it does have a kids club.

Others | The Beldi Country Club is gorgeous but I have never stayed, I also love Royal Mansour which is in the Medina and for Riads the La Villa Des Orangers is my favourite

EAT | if you aren’t staying there the Beldi Country club is well worth a visit, Ling Ling at the Mandarin, the Moroccan restaurant in the Aman is lovely, Nomad is fabulous and I have never been but BO-ZIN is apparently very fun. If you want refined Moroccan food then head to La Grande table Marocain in the Royal Mansour.

DO | You must visit the souks and do some shopping , but don’t forget to barter! The Jardin Majorelle is a MUST do as is YSL museum, I also love to take a trip to the Mamounia hotel for a stroll in the gardens.
