Selfridges is changing the way we shop and taking on a super relevant retail initiative called Project Earth. In addition to the brands we know and love from Selfridges, Project Earth is highlighting earth conscious brands, sustainable products, and providing more consumer options with the commitment to radically changing the retail industry.
You guys know I’ve always loved Selfridges. It’s my favorite department store in London and I think they’ve truly done an incredible job adjusting to the times. Within Project Earth, I love their initiatives to make shopping more eco-conscious. I’ve always advocated investing in nicer, quality pieces that will last beyond and in addition to eco-conscious brands, they’re also bringing new methods of buying and renting to the forefront of fashion.
Vestiaire Collective is one of my favorite pre-loved retailers with an exclusive boutique in Selfridges. Several of you have asked where I sell designer pieces, and Vestiaire Collective is one of the sustainable retailers I use and trust most. They often have hard-to-find Chanel and Hermes handbags.
Kidswear Collective is another Planet Earth approved pre-loved retailer sourcing childrens wear. They actually currently sell some of the girls pieces at Selfridges and also have very beautiful children’s brands as a more sustainable way to shop.
HURR is a fast up-and-coming rental brand with an exclusive curation via Selfridges. They offer really nice brands ie. Alessandra Rich, Cecilie Bahnsen, Saint Laurent, Zimmerman available for rental at a fraction of retail cost. In additional to providing a more affordable, sustainable retail option, I think it’s amazing how each rental notifies you of the CO2e saved equivalent to trees cut down and miles in a car.
I’ve broken down several categories and Project Earth Brands here all available for shopping online.
BIOSSANCE
Selfridges just brought BIOSSANCE to the UK from the states. I have often listened to beauty guru Alessandra Steinherr mention these products so am so delighted that that are now in the UK. All the BIOSSANCE products are “Forest Friendly” meaning by choosing them you are selecting products that preserve and protect our forests. I’ve linked lots of their products below and the Hero product you should definitely try is the overachievers kit.
PROJECT EARTH BEAUTY ALL
I love how dedicated Selfridges have been incorporating all aspects of Earth consciousness in their huge beauty edit. They have products that are committed to reduce waste, products that are made in the UK, clean beauty products and products that are cruelty free. I love Tata Harper so I am huge fan of all of their products these, I also frequently use the Ouai refillable shampoos and condtioners, and a new favourite is the just launched new Armani fragrance – My Way, which is a glass refillable bottle and it smells just divine, if you love a white floral scent this is for you!
PROJECT EARTH FASHION
Again Selfridges have excelled by including many aspects of sustainability in their edit. They have items from a large variety of different sections from organic fabrics, reducing waste, using recycled fabrics, British made and forest friendly. I personally love Cecilie Bahnsen a brand that uses organic cotton, I shot this white dress earlier this week. I love this jumpsuit from Nanushka, I had a very similar on last winter (see pics below). The ninety percent tees are one of my go to linen tees as I love their shape, I am also a huge fan of the Wolford body suits as a wardrobe staple and these Vintage Levi jeans are on my wish list, they are vintage and just a super fit, I love them in the black and the blue but I also love the white.
PROJECT EARTH JEWELLLERY
I love some vinatage jewellery so was delighted to see that Susan Caplan was selling her vintage finds via Selfridges, you may remember my vintage Chanel Hair slide which was kindly gifted to me a few years ago. I am also a fan of Aligerhi, I think there jewellery is so delicate and pretty and at a great price point. Also loving these Monica Vinader jewellery boxes that are part of the edit as they are made of responsible leather.
INVESTMENT PIECES
I also wanted to do an edit of my favourite investment pieces from Selfridges, those pieces that you will have forever and treasure for years to come and wear on repeat. For me shopping this way is so important, I dont see the point in buying things for a one time wear. These items dont necessarily have to be super expensive, I have high street pieces I still love that I wear 10 years later. I LOVE my Max mara teddy and will be wearing this again almost every day this winter. I love the Flamenco bags by Loewe and I love that they also have a strap. My Mcqueen dress is one of my favourite pieces I own, definitely in my top 5, I think I may even get it in the red.
KHAITE
I think the quality of Khaite his exceptional – I love their cashmere and I have a couple of their knits and cardigans, the cashmere is so thick and just divine and its doesn’t bobble, but I realise it is a massive investment. I love the insta tops and the Beth and Allegra dress
SHOES AND BOOTS
I love a great pair of shoes or boots. I have been wearing these Givenchy boots for the past few year and they are an easy go to boot that is comfortable, pretty cool and one that won’t go out of fashion for a long time to come. I also love these Paris Texas boots that are super fabulous – I have this exact pair from last year and they are amazing with midi skirts and also over jeans and I love the block heel for comfort too. Amina Muaddi are my favourite heels right now – I absolutely love them and I love these pairs below – they sell out fast though!
